No more AMOLED on HTC Devices

Sounds like common sense to me. Samsung can't fill the orders, and the TFT LCDs, depending on how they are made, can have the same 'power savings' in them. The colors I'm not sure if they will be as sharp but it will look equally as good to most everybody. I think it's a good choice.

Just read another report on this topic. The author mentioned that while they will use the super TFT screens, they will also use the ambled screens when they become available.

AMOLED > LCD in my opinion. i've never been a fan of LCD. i'm glad i already have mine.

I wonder how long it will be till the phones with those screens will be the ones shipped out ?

I couldn't agree with you more man, The only way I would be jealous is if they switched to SAMOLED. Other than that, I feel just as glad I already have my Incredible.

They should take this opportunity to put a higher res screen in them.....more money but happier people. The AMOLED screen produces better color and sharper images in my opinion, but everyone's eyes see things differently. I think the lcd will be a bit better in sunlight though. So eh, I'll stick with AMOLED.

I'm not sure higher resolution would matter too much as I had the chance to put my Incredible next to an iPhone 4 yesterday. The extra resolution of the "retina" display isn't making much of a difference. I'm not saying the IPS isn't a nice display, only that when giving the two phones to an impartial observer they are more likely to comment on the extra screen real estate than on the difference in "sharpness."

I, too am glad I was an early Incredible adopter. I think the lcd screen is a step down. And Samsung should be hung out to dry for hogging most of the amoled market. How did that happen anyway??? And why can't HTC hold Samsung contractually responsible for producing these screens???

they already have been. build 002 is amoled, build 003 is LCD or TFT or whatever it's called.

That's all speculation. On the EVO 4G, build 002 uses a higher-quality LCD screen, and build 003 uses a slightly inferior one, according to this article. But as for the Incredible, I've seen no reports of different build versions, or different screens. That may change as these new DIncs ship out, and whether or not HTC effectively informs their customers.

Did you even read the article linked in the main post?

Aren't those two incredibles shown in the 2nd picture in the story you linked as well?

No, those are the 4 different builds of the EVO 4G. It describes each screen in the paragraph above.

EDIT
And to answer your first question, yes I did read that article. I also read this one. I'm not denying that HTC is utilizing the Sony Super TFT LCD in their manufacturing process, they've openly stated that they are doing so to deal with the massive back-orders caused by the Samsung AMOLED shortage. What I'm saying is that the EVO 4G has been reported and confirmed by consumers and tech sites to have different builds that relate to different LCD screens, whereas the DInc has had no such investigation or data to support that claim. That may change as HTC begins to ship out their new phones, and as consumers begin to look at their build version, and compare screens.

so then it looks like the "build 003" incredibles haven't shipped yet, but they will be shipping eventually.

I read an article somewhere that said that Samsung is hording all of the screens for their own brand of Android phone. Talk about a conflict of interest.
