Curious what folks think about the news or rumor that there is no new planned or announced Nexus tablet in 2015.

Is this good news for us N9 owners implying Google will continue to focus on it as their platform of choice especially given the 2yr upgrade rule?

That's somewhat disappointing. I don't think the N9 necessarily needs a refresh, and there isn't a lot of new hardware for them to demo so it makes sense - but always curious to see in which ways they raise the bar.

IMO this doesn't impact N9 owners at all. Upgrades on the K1 driven tablet will likely be based on the relationship with HTC and NVIDIA, not contextually based on the presence of other tablets.

Looks like the Nexus 5 gen2 is going to get all the attention this year. I expect another tablet some time in 2016 (as said above, not much new hardware or software to drive another tablet just yet).
If the 2012 N7 can be used to predict the future of the N9 then we should be set for at least a few future ota's hitting the N9.

Sad part is, I think it is a good idea. Google/HTC really botched the launch of this tablet. There were little to no advertisements for it, performance issues galore not to mention build issues. I remember having the Nexus 7 2013 and it had problems with its touch screen and rotation. Maybe Google, before releasing another tablet, should take time to really create one that is worthy of purchase. It's a shame, despite having numerous issues with my tablet, I still would love to get another Nexus in the future. I love pure Android and can't bring myself to get a Samsung or any other type tablet.

My two-cents!

Agree with all above.

I don't know, the optimistic part of me wants to believe this means developers will have more time to focus on N9 and the challenges of the new hardware to ensure it gets fleshed out properly for the next go around.

Overall the 5.1.1 + N9 is pure pleasure ... I also personally like the materials (soft back) although had some annoying build issues like sticky sounds when the overheating cpu/gpu would cause the glue to deactivate. That's gone now thankfully.

I had and still have a N7 (2012) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.2 (2012) and they sit idle ...

I assume that by October the N9 will be the only supported Nexus tablet, and that's gotta say something for timely updates.
