No NFC option in Trusted Devices

Hi, I am trying to add an NFC tag as a trusted device on my S7 Edge, however, in the Add a Trusted Device screen, NFC does not seem to be listed. When I click on Add Trusted Device, it only shows the devices I have paired via BlueTooth, and not an option to scan for an NFC Tag

Any ideas? When I put the NFC tag against the phone, it bleeps so it can pick it up

I think I read somewhere that Google removed that option.

And here is where I read it:

Smart Lock originally supported NFC-based unlocking, but as of September 2017, the option has been deprecated. Users who have set up Trusted NFC tags can continue to use them, but they won’t be able to modify them or add new tags.

You could probably use Tasker (with Secure Settings) to unlock the phone for the particular tag. (I usually don't recommend paid apps, but Tasker is more than worth the price.)
