Essential's Twitter feed claims the notification light is along the top bar.

The two near the camera could be proximity and ambient light sensors.

LOL... I hear ya. It seems like everyone wants a case on everything. A couple years ago a colleague of mine kept bragging about how thin her new iPhone 6 was, only to pull it out of her pocket with a gigantic rubber case on it. We're both mechanical design engineers so I couldn't help but point out the irony.

If I were that hard on a phone (and I'm taking just myself here), I'd seriously consider an S8 Active. It would have to be offered unlocked/unbranded with all GSM/CDMA bands available.

I loved the bumper case on my Nexus 4. just something to keep the phone screen from coming in contact with something on the table.

I feel that a basic bumper case, something very thing, would be fine. That extra padding on the corners would be insanely helpful.

But we also need a tempered glass screen cover because gorilla glass scratches from someone just breathing on it. I do not want scratches on my screen. When the tempered glass gets beat up you take it off and put on another one. Best smart phone accessory every created.
