No PRL or Profile Update after Root?

Ever since I rooted my phone a couple of months ago I have not been able to update PRL or Profile. I have wiped the phone clean and installed various ROMs (currently Syndicate, previously Baked Snack) but I can never get it to work. I have tried this in many different locations so it is not a cell tower issue. I have also been on the phone with Sprint tech several times with no resolution...

This is driving me crazy. I want to be able to update my PRL as I know that eventually this information gets outdated. The only thing I haven't tried is going back to stock but I don't want to go through that hassle and I don't think this has to do with my phone being rooted or the ROMs.

Help please...Any suggestions.

Sorry I wish I had an answer for you! But I've never heard of this happening before. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

If I try to update PRL....It churns for a while saying that it is updating then I get the following error message

"An error occurred while trying to update your PRL. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please call customer care. Error: Connection Error"

I get a similar message when I try to update the Profile.

Strange. For me it just wouldnt say anything.

But to update the prl, just turn airplane mode on and off.

Idk about the profile, and my guess is theres no immediate need to update that

So simply toggling airplane mode on than off updates the PRL? If so that's great because it is not giving me any errors as opposed to trying to do it from the settings menu.

Thanks for the help.

this also happens to me but only when i use the trulyepic rom. every time i go back to midNIGHT it works again. I have no idea why its happening but I'd also be interested in hearing about a fix if anyone comes up with one

PRL updated no trouble. Profile gave no error, so I'm guessing it worked.

Flipping the airplane mode to update is good to know. I still do this everytime I boot for my battery, just from the problems that happened with initial phone and battery drainage. Probably don't need to now with rooted rom, but its old habit . .

I'm using TruelyEpic and I was able to update both without any problem. I tried doing it with wifi on and off and with 4g on and off and was able to update the prl and profile.

Thanks for verifying this with TrulyEpic Rebirth, so we know this isn't related to this ROM in any way.

I'm another one. The second I jumped to DK28 it broke PRL updates. Doesn't matter what ROM I'm on, even going back to DI18 hasn't brought PRL updating back...

Interesting. Using Odin to return to Eclair DI18 should give you PRL updating back. It shouldn't be malfunctioning in the first place even on DK28. I did a test myself last night and flashed 3 different roms and no problems.

Just updated both on my Truly Epic Rebirthed phone... but I have seen the error before... I just shrugged it off and tried again later.

Its funny because if it wasn't for forums like Android Central and others people wouldn't even know of or what these PRL's and Profile updates even do. From what I understand the updated PRL isn't a very big deal. It doesn't get updated very often and even if it does its not like Sprint is sending out a flying to everyone saying "Make sure you update your PRL". Sprint tech support once had me do it and it didn't change things one bit, so how much effect it has...

Running Nebula Rom v1.07, PRL and Profile update correctly for me.

To determine if you have the newest PRL available (As of Right Now) you can dial ##786# on the device, press View, then scroll down to PRL. The current PRL version is 60674, and new versions are generally released only every couple of months.
