Let me just say that I absolutely love this phone and everything about it ,I'm just impatient with updates that's all, willing to wait
My first foray into Google devices was the Nexus 6p. Prior to that I had phones from HTC, Samsung, and Motorola. Most times the updates could run anywhere from a month to almost a year after Google released them for their devices. The Motorola phones were after they were bought out by Google, so they were pretty great at updates. Not as good as Google phones were, except for a couple times when their updates actually went out before Google's got theirs. But IIRC that was also before we started getting monthly security patches.
After moving to the 6p, they did have faster updates, but I never got security patches before the middle of the month, most times in the third week.
After upgrading to the Pixel 1, I believe the latest I received a security patch was the 10th. Most instances I got it within a day or two after they were released, sometimes the same day.
Also keep in mind, Google recently (within the past few months) changed how the Check For Update feature works. Previously it would check to see where you were in the OTA update queue, and if you were ready it would download it. There is still an OTA queue, but now hitting Check For Update let's you bypass the queue and download it immediately. So that will change how fast you get it as well. But remember that can cut both ways. If there's an issue with the update or patch, you phone may now be vulnerable to the issues and might require downgrading to the previous version or wait until they patch the patch.
I would keep an eye out for when they release the November security patch and then see how long it takes to make it to your phone, or hit the Check For Update button if you get really impatient.
