No security.

[Android Central Question]

New tablet running 8.1. (padgene 10.1).

Security options for screen lock only have 'None' or 'Swipe'.
No option for PIN or password.

Any ideas as it is currently unsecure and I'll need to send it back as not willing to take unsecure device out and about as planned.?

Did you do a Google search for the instructions? Without listing make, model and os.

If so, I would simply return it if possible. Those dirt cheap, no name brands are often more trouble than they are worth. Your issue is a prime example. The security options should be baked in to the core OS programming. If yours is missing them, I suspect the manufacturer removed them. Whether intentional or accidental doesn't matter to me, because either way is extremely troubling. I don't expect you to be able to fix this, unless you can install a custom ROM, and that opens up a whole other host of issues to be concerned with.

My suggestion is return it and buy a name brand device. It will cost more, but you get what you pay for. Even a used name brand device could be better than this one.
