No service alert comes on when there should be service . I just used the phone ,9 minute's ago

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone, and which carrier? Do other phones on the same network have service, or do they also have a problem?

Have you tried removing your SIM and then reinserting? If you still don't have service, try contacting your carrier.
