Hi,

I was having trouble with mobile connections ("No service" etc.), so I tried the CyanogenMod7 3G/4G toggle widget, which sometimes jolts things into working. Unfortunately, this time, it didn't, and kind of got stuck at 4G and I couldn't change it back (I don't have 4G in my area). So I rebooted the phone, and when it came back it prompted that there was no SIM card inserted on the lock screen ("No SIM card. Please insert a SIM card."). I'd seen this happen before on boot, but it quickly rectified itself and found the card. But this time it's not working, and after multiple reboots and battery pulls it still reports no SIM.

I had just upgraded my CM7 ROM (7.1.0-RC1) from RC 1.4 to 1.52 a few days ago, but everything seemed fine and I haven't seen this problem until just now. In Wireless & Mobile Network Settings, "Mobile networks" is now grayed out and I can't click it.

You mentioned battery pulls, but have you also done SIM pulls? Sometimes that helps to refresh the electrical contacts between the SIM and the phone.

So it seems that toggling between 3G and 4G with the widget (and getting stuck) kicked the phone into a "silent" sort of airplane mode, which wasn't displaying anywhere and was showing instead the SIM card missing. I went into the phone settings, found airplane mode enabled, and disabled it, and suddenly the SIM was found and everything was fine. Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize this until I had re-flashed a 2.5 radio ROM, which didn't help at all, but that was more of an inconvenience and waste of time than anything else.

Not sure whether this is a "bug" or a "feature".
