No SIM Unlock until November

I called AT&T to ask that my Infuse be SIM-unlocked because I'm going out of the country in a few weeks and want to use it with a SIM from another country. AT&T told me that Samsung is not providing unlocking information until November. Does that sound plausible?
 
Yeah, they don't have to offer you the SIM unlock code, but they usually will after 6 months of good standing.
 
No. It's not an AT&T decision, from what AT&T said.
I've been an AT&T customer for plenty of time for that.
It's related to the Samsung-AT&T exclusivity agreement for the Infuse.

I understanding what you're saying - AT&T isn't refusing to give it to you, they're saying THEY CAN'T get it yet because Samsung is refusing to give it to them. It does make sense that the mfg would have control over the unlock codes because, when I call to get them (three devices, two were the same make/model) they always make sure I understand they can NOT provide one for my iPhone. When I was like "really?" They said Apple doesn't provide them with the codes. They've given me the unlock codes for three other devices, so I have no reason to believe they wouldn't if they could. Look on the bright side - Samsung is just delaying it, not flat out denying it like Apple apparently does :-)
