No sound when using Overdrive or Spotify plus a game app

I'm updating this to say I've tried this with Spotify, and there's no sound if I open a game app. I also tried it without using bluetooth with the same problem. I use an LG G8 ThinQ-Android 10 with bluetooth earbuds, I've been listening to audiobooks with the Overdrive app for years. Lately, if I open a game app, the audiobook keeps playing but I can't hear it. It seems like my problem has been since the update to Android 10, but I can't be positive because I don't play games all that often. It works fine with any other app - Gmail, Reddit, etc. I've made sure Overdrive is exempt from the battery saver, and has permission to play in the background. I can't think of anything else to try, nor can I find an answer with a search on the net.
