No Users Manual for Fascinate?

I just got the Fascinate yesterday, and while I have been having a lot of fun attempting to figure things out on my own, there are some things I just don't understand. I'm new to the whole smartphone world (moved up from an LG Venus), so I'm trying to figure out how to best make this phone work for me.

Seeing as how my tech guru is currently deployed, I thought I'd actually try the User's Manual. But, I didn't get one. I got a tips and hints book, consumer information and another book in Spanish, but no user's manual. I did find it online and I'm using that, but the lack of manual in the box kind of bothers me a little bit.

Did anyone else not get a user's manual or do I need to call my rep and give him an earful?

Thanks,
Beth

Nope, it's not included

I didn't receive one in the box either. I guess they're trying to reduce the box size/weight by not including it and saving trees (or at least saving costs...)

<sarcasm> Users manual? This isn't the droid you are looking for... </sarcasm>

I was put off a bit by the complete lack of usable step by step documentation too. When things start to break and I think to myself "am i SURE i did that right" there is nowhere to go but the forums. This could explain why Verizon themselves have taken to making an interactive forum on their web site so that users can "help themselves". If you have a real problem, call support and get on their case about there not being a manual. That is the only way they will reconsider not including any such thing with such a complicated phone. (and whatever you do, don't go back to the store and let them put ATK on your phone... the guys on the forums will never let you live it down)

But joking aside, the community here is the right place to ask questions, there are genuinely helpful people around to answer even what seem like stupid questions. Don't hesitate to ask (after trying the search, of course).

LoL My husband would say the same thing!

I tried using the System Tutorial on the phone, but the only thing that did was show me how to use Swype.

I definitely have lots of questions, but I'm being a good girl and using the search feature here. Some things I want to do but I hesitate. I have this big fear of turning my phone into an overpriced paperweight. :)

I'd say to go try most things you're interested in during the first 30 days as the Verizon stores will more likely replace your phone with a new one if you do make it a "paperweight."

Thanks for the Swype info! I also found the dictionary in the help & how-to forum. Yeah! Now I don't have to keep googling the terms y'all use! :)

Thanks,
Beth (who is better known for breaking electronics than making them work for her)

I am still looking for the part where it explains why half of the contacts in my phone have a picture from twitter and the other half have a picture from google, despite me being signed into facebook which while having arguably the best pictures (since you arent limited to a tiny icon) doesn't seem to be a viable option...
