Is there really no visual voicemail app on this phone? I had to download the AT&T one from the Play Store.

Visual Voice mail has always been carrier-dependent. There is no stock visual voice mail app, so if it was there on ATT versions before and this time around there isn't one pre-installed, then they decided to cut down on the bloatware and let you download what you need from the Play Store.

Except that it's the same carrier and the app on the S7 Edge is completely different than this AT&T piece of ****. I just checked the apk of the app on the S7 Edge and it does say Samsung. I just hate using carrier apps.

It might be branded as Samsung, but like I said, Visual Voicemail is totally carrier dependent. If AT&T included a different version on the S7 Edge, it was an AT&T addition.

Go to the Play Store and install AT&T Visual Voicemail.

I guess it just didn't come with the phone or transfer over. Weird cuz I transferred all of my apps from the old phone. I really don't like the thought of everything not coming over. Now I need to compare the old to the new. Yuck!

Have a good day!

I thought the same thing. Then I saw a message icon on the bottom left of the dial screen. That's where my voicemail was hiding.

There's visual voicemail built into the Phone app. Bottom left side.

Thank you for this. This is what the app on the S7 Edge looked like, but now there's no actual app to click on. Works for me and looks a ton cleaner than that ghastly AT&T app.

Silly question, but how do you multi-quote in this forum? I don't see the option to do it.

Verizon has the visual voicemail app loaded

So looks like there is no button on the bottom left for vzw? Also I have the voicemail but it just shows how many voicemails I have and a button to call there is no visual voicemail. Any idea?

Get the Verizon voicemail app. Like I said, the visual one is not a 'standard' option, it is added by each carrier. T-Mobile's version, for instance, comes with the T-Mobile separate app included (and removable, since visual voicemail in the Magenta carrier comes with a monthly price tag) but on the Phone app you only get a shortcut to call your actual voicemail.

I am an AT&T customer. I got my S8 on Friday, April 21, 2017. The phone did NOT come with an AT&T Visual Voicemail app. My S7 had one. None on the S8. On the dialing pad there is a voicemail icon on the bottom left. On the S7, that was for dialup voicemail not visual voicemail. I clicked on it and a screen came up that said...there is no AT&T Visual Voicemail app on the new S8. It said to setup visual voicemail with that little icon on the dialing pad which I did. Now when we get a voicemail, there will be an indicator in the notification panel. So, I had a friend call and leave a voice mail to test it. I clicked on the notification and guess what...visual voicemail did come up just as we are used to. I hope this helps.

Hi, Nonie. Thanks for posting that. Very interesting your S8+ had the AT&T Visual Voicemail app but my S8 did not. is it the same blue app we had for the S7 if you would happen to know ? This app is in the Google Play Store but believe it or not...the app is not compatible with the S8...is what it says...thus I couldnt even download it to my phone. There is no substitute in the Play Store. There is an AT&T Visual Voicemail Viewer app but when I downloaded it to my phone, it didnt work. Is that the one you have Nonie...the AT&T Visual Voicemail Viewer app ? Is your app blue like on the S7. I call AT&T customer service here Sunday evening and the guy who answered had zero idea. I will call AT&T tomorrow. I would like to have the app. Nonie...does your app have a numeral imposed on the app for the number of voicemail messages ? The S7 app never had that feature. Does yours ? What is the experience of others on this thread ?

When you activate it, it looks just like the AT&T voicemail app we've had previously. I found out through this thread.

Sheridan 1268,
I don't have the s7, but I don't know what it looks like.

Just thinking after writing this. Att rep transfered my apps from s5, and so that's why it was on it. But I got new message from app welcoming me.
It's the one from play store, but it works.

This is what it looks like.

Parridge...what do you mean..."when you activate it". How did you activate it ? Did the app come with the phone ? I hear you that the app you have is the one we had previously which I will assume you mean on the S7. Is it the blue app with a phone receiver ?
