No way to shut off screen without locking phone?!

On every other android phone I've had, there's been an option to have the power button just shut the screen off and allow the phone to lock only after the default time settings, or have it immediately lock the phone. On the S6 Active, unless I'm just not seeing it somewhere, I can't find that setting and it's set to enable the instant lock w/ power button.

This would be a deal breaker for me as I'm checking my phone frequently enough that I just want to be able to power the screen off and on without having to go through the lock screen first.

Anyone know a way around this on this phone?

Settings>Security>
Automatically lock> 5 minutes after sleep (or longer if you desire)
Power button instantly locks> off

Then-
Settings>Display>Sleep> After 5 minutes of inactivity (or longer if you desire)

Now this works on my Lollipopped Moto X but YMMV.

There's an option under lock screen for "none", this removes the lock screen altogether. Push the power button brings you straight to home screen.

Right, but the Power Button Instantly Locks setting is missing as far as I can tell on this phone.

I DO want a lock. I just want to skip that screen as long as it's within a certain time.

Settings > Quick settings (or Personal) > Lock screen and security > Secure Lock settings > Secured lock time

I have that set, but when I hit the power button to shut the screen off, then hit it again it still takes me to the lock screen instead of straight to the home screen. Every other android phone I've owned doesn't behave like that.

If you use some third party launcher, you maybe able to use the active key and go direct to home screen. I haven't tried myself but it may work.
I am a little disappointed on what the active key can do. Seems like it can only go to certain app, I was hoping I can use it to change some settings directly.
Also I find the smart lock also does not work. I have my watch connected but it still ask me for pin every time.

I see, in that case no, you'll always have to go through the lockscreen. Samsung has it done this way to prevent b.utt-dialing (seriously, what are we 12? I can't type b.utt?), which is useful enough for me to never have sought a way to disable it. Now that I've put some thought into it, I just thought of a way you can get around it, though only if you're using a 3rd party launcher. I just tried it out with my Nove Launcher, I just set the Active Key to Nova Launcher, then press the active key and it'll take me straight to home screen. You'll need to enable active key on lockscreen as well. This way, you can basically use your active key as your power key, except for when you need to power off or something.

Ahhh.. Interesting. I set it to Google Now Launcher and that did indeed work. Rather bizarre way to have to do it but, it'll do for now I guess.

What a strange option for Samsung to remove though. Is it like this on the regular S6 too?
