no Wi-Fi available, so no way to download simple apps?

I made the switch from a Blackberry Storm 2 to a Droid Razr Maxx a few days ago, and I am already incredibly pleased with it. However, my Droid is telling me that all of the apps I want require Wi-Fi to download, due to their size. I live in an area without Wi-Fi (I have a Verizon broadband card for my laptop), and I was under the impression that because my Droid has a hotspot I wouldn't need outside Wi-Fi. The hotspot does work too, my computer recognizes it. I'm not terribly savvy with this kind of stuff, and poking around the forums didn't really help me out. Is there any way around this Wi-Fi issue on my Droid, or do I need to find the nearest Starbucks and just jump on their internet?

I may be mistaken, but I believe those apps just recommend you download over wifi because of the size. I know the Scrabble app always recommends wifi, but I've always downloaded over my cell data without issues.

How did you do that? It stops me every time and says that wifi is required, and I have no idea how to change those settings.

In the Settings for Google Play, make sure "Update over Wi-Fi only" is unchecked.

Hmm, odd. I just experimented with downloading Scrabble Free, which is 31 MB, over 4G. When I hit Download, I got a pop message warning me that the file might be too big to download by mobile data, or I might exceed by cap (which is impossible, since I'm unlimited), and gave me the option buttons of Ok, Set Up Wifi, and Cancel. When I hit Ok, it went ahead and started downloading.

Are you trying to download on 4G, or do you only have 3G in your area? Maybe if you only have 3G, it won't try to download since it would take a while.

Another possibility--go to your main Android Settings menu and pick Data Manager, then Data Saver. Is it on? If so, is Market one of the items listed? If so, then the Data Saver may be preventing you from downloading apps until you connect to wifi.

Argh, sorry about those annoying typos in my last post! I meant "pop UP message" and "exceed MY cap."

I got it figured out go to setting then data manager then data saver Un check that and magic it works
