Nokia claims Nexus 7 tablet infringes on patents

Nokia seems more willing to make a deal with licensing than apple is. That is if they violate any patents

To put it simply, Nokia is usually after the money... pay them licensing money and they go away
Typical reasonable/logical Finnish. folks. Isn't Santa Claus from Finland? :D

By comparison, Apple usually wants blood. :( they don't stop until a judge bans the "infringing" device.
Blood-thirsty(or is it blood-sucking) California fruity geeks. :D Whenever I think of Apple, I think of
the Evil Queen(also a big Apple fan) from Snow White.

So you don't believe that Apple getting devices banned doesn't make them money.

I believe the difference in the two is that Nokia will add the patent agreement money to their bottom line as income and add a company as a possible hardware/software supplier for devices down the road, where they could waive patent fees for consideration from that company. Who knows, Nokia may want to make Android devices in the future.

Apple on the other hand is going after Google and Samsung to prove a point. Apple already bought a chip manufacturer and is looking at an in house cpu now and presumably memory in the future, and they are moving away from Google maps in the next OS update.

Apple is trying to say that they don't need or want either of them in the mobile marketplace. Jobs knew that Google would take off due to their presence on the internet and their acquisitions that helped bolster that position. He had a plan to knock Google out when Samsung decides to become a bigger player in the mobile market.

Samsung was already supplying memory and cpus to a lot of oems and Apple was one of them. As Samsung grew and started to threaten the iphone with their galaxy line, Apple was now taking the fight to two fronts.

All in all, Samsung and Google need to rally the troops and fight. Apple is the 500 pound gorilla in this, and it seems the only way to knock them down a few pegs is to get the rest of silicon valley involved.

Hopefully soon.
