If I wish to have the Android Media Manager bypass a folder, is it correct that I need to put .nomedia file in that folder?

I'm using the weather app Weatherbug and for some reason it creates a folder "campaignicon" with 2 files that end up in my photo gallery and just annoys me. I like the app but if I can get rid of those files from showing iñ my Gallery I'd be a happy camper.

That's correct. A blank file titled ".nomedia" will instruct the Media Scanner to skip that folder when scanning for photos, music, or videos to populate the database.

Can I assume that the .nomedia file is a hidden file.

Files and folders that start with a period are technically hidden, although most file managers will show them.

Ok, thanks, I learned something, and that is if I wish to hide photos and or videos from public view I stuff them in some folder and just add a .nomedia file to that folder. Now that's cool.
