non dummy thunderbolt spotted at verizon store

this is not spam..i am not a troll.. this is a 100% legit story it happened to me today at roughly 5pm..so after going to 2 different verizon stores in manhatten (34th street and 42nd/6th) asking to just simply see the dummy unit of the tbolt so i can get a feel for it..i was told that they didnt have any and in a last ditch effort i went to a 3rd and final (much much smaller) verizon store at 43rd street and madison ave..this is where the fun begins..now i work for the city of new york and i was in full uniform(thats all i can say) which may or may not have any relevance, anyway i walk in and i approach the very kind greater and ask her if they have a dummy tbolt, she replied "no we dont but that lady standing by customer service is a regional htc rep you may want to speak to her" and literally winks at me..ok hint taken..i walk over to the rep and ask her the above question..the htc rep looks at me smiles and says "we dont have any" so i reply 'ohh okk do you really not have any or you just cant show me"..i laughed and the rep laughed..at this point the rep looks at a verizon store employee smiles at her and says "can in show him"..the verizon store employee (with the dirtiest look i have ever seen) sharply replies "no we dont have any, it will be out in a few weeks" and brushes me off..so i reply "whats a few weeks because im a new customer comming from tmobile and ive been interested in this phone" vz employee replies "I DONT KNOW, A FEW WEEKS"..so i take a hint and walk away to wait for my partner who was conducting other business..at this point im standing only 5 or so feet from the htc rep and the above lovley vz employee..then the original greater aproaches me and brings me to the htc rep again(i guess she figured i didnt talk to her yet) and she says "hey so in so this guy is interested in the tbolt" so i imediatley say 'yeah we met already she said she cant show me" for the whole store to hear..now this is where the fun stuff really begins..as i wait for my partner no less than 3 seperate vz employees walk up to the htc rep and say "can i see it"...this is when the htc rep pulls a device out of her pocket and hands it to each employee in full view of the store...the htc rep whispers something to the employee and the employee turns her back to me hiding the very obvious tbolt in her hand and starts playing with it..now this is when the vz employee (with her back still turned) says to me very loudly "sir this phone is very very cool"..i reply simply "i bet it is" standing there like a shmuck..i stormed out at this point...i really dont know if this info is of any value to anyone but i figured i would share anyway..and i know bad grammar, run on sentences and terrible wording..i apologize im just extremley pissed

If I went into store where the employee's brushed me off, walked away and yelled at me I would flip out. I would asking who hell these kid's parents are. Worse who thought these kids could run store? In this story they sound like a bratty little sister.

Someone gets on here to share a story. You guys decide to go after him because he doesn't have pics. Is it so hard to believe that an HTC rep would have the phone in hand? When I worked for an AT&T store we got to see pre-production units sometimes a month before they were officially released. In some cases it was even sooner than that.

Now are you guys gonna say you don't believe me because I don't have pictures to prove it? If so then don't post and just move on. We all know the phones are out in the wild somewhere (at least for testing purposes if not more) so if someone saw one randomly in a store it's definitely possible.

If it is true (and I have no reason to doubt the OP) than it should make you guys that want the phone happy that they are letting reps have them to use.

This jumping down the throat of fellow posters is getting out of hand. I mean seriously guys, its just a phone. Treating fellow human beings like crap isn't going to make it get here any sooner.

I don't see why the OP's story isn't believable. Its not like he said he stole the thunderbolt, ran away from the store, and is now posting from it? That's awesome if you got to see a live one! Hopefully soon we all actually have them. Its just too bad they didn't let you play with it.

Ok, I may be stretching, but until you get the actual device in your hand, you don't know which comparable device they may be showing. With it being a manufacturer rep, I can see how they might have another carrier's device if Big Red is getting a similar model. From everything I have read on the TB, it's Verizon's version of the Evo.

To tell you the truth I do believe him cause my buddies brother works at a bestbuy warehouse in Tampa and said they have their shipment in of thunderbolts but the VZW rep won't allow them to sell them yet

I can't believe that people STILL think that the Thunderbolt is "Verizon's version of the EVO".

Other than being manufactured by the same company and both having a 4.3" screen, they're completely different phones.

They may look 'similar' from a distance, but the EVO is black in color and the Thunderbolt is grey/silver in color. I'm pretty sure that any of us on these very forums (smart phone junkies) would be able to tell that the Thunderbolt is not an EVO from a short distance.

I personally believe the OP. He hasn't posted anything that would make him 'look cool' or make us believe that he has the phone early. He just has a very exciting story that he wanted to share with us. And trust me, I'm sure anyone who experienced the same would want to share it also. I know I would.
