have there been any OEM accessories like a car or home dock been announced for the Epic? i'm mostely interested in the car dock

I don't think anything has been announced for the epic...
on a side note, I make my own. I use a cheap Garmin Mount and belt clip holster from ebay and epoxy them together... voila, perfect fit windshield mount

I haven't seen anything yet.

I have a cheap "universal" (it's a lie!) PDA car mount which, with some strategic paper wadding, is an almost-perfect mount for my N810, and from the looks of it will probably work for the Epic as well, but only if mounted horizontally.

rufflez really has the right idea, IMHO. It's hard to find a perfect mount for your specific needs, but it's possible to combine a bunch of really cheap bits into something workable, so I'm not too concerned about official accessories.

The aftermarket accessories for the Droid X are pretty sweet. Would be nice to see a home and car dock released for the Epic but I doubt it will happen.

This is what sucks about the EPIC being different from all the other Galaxy phones. It probably won't sell as well as the Evo(depends on advertising) and it is really tough to actually make a case for a landscape slider.

You're right. Unfortunately the advertising that I have seen hasn't been model specific. It seems that Samsung has stepped up (slightly) and bought some airtime for advertising. I'm not sure how much they (Samsung) will support aftermarket accessories. This will be my first Samsung phone/device

People will go in for the Evo... it'll be sold out. They'll see the EPIC and see it has a sliding keyboard and they'll be sold.

Remember, a lot of people prefer those "full-featured" phones with sliding keyboards, and that is where the majority of your users are upgrading from. Texting qwerty full featured phone ------> Smart phone is the natural progression.

I can see the Epic benefiting from the Evo sold out status. Timing is essential however; If Sprint can release the device while the Evo is in backordered status... winner winner.

The EPIC doesn't even exist yet. Even your rumor that it will be out in 2 weeks is probably long enough for the EVO to be well stocked. I am seeing tons of ads for the white EVOs at Best Buy too. And Sprint themselves went all out with their "first" ad campaign.

The Epic exists, just isn't being sold yet.

Ask the people who have been waiting for the Droid Inc for over a month now. Don't be so sure about inventory levels when it comes down to screen shortages.

My experience in the Tri-State area, none of the Best Buy's have received white units yet. They still have a few black ones tho... (the white one is only white on the back, the front is still black, LOL).

im really hoping at the latest, mid next month. I love my Hero, but I'm ready to lust over some Epic goodness. I walked into a T-Mobile store just to play with the Vibrant. Its an awesome phone.

TMO has no presence here, but I tried to look at hte captibate at an ATT store yesterday, and no dice. The guy said he wasn't allowed to show them to customers, and mentioned that he had just finished doing training on it. He said it was a really great phone too, and "just hte right size".

It's weird asking an ATT guy to show me a phone I want to buy on Sprint though :)

Yeah, I felt bad telling the guy I'm with Sprint, his demeanor changed. He was still cool about it, but got the hint that I wasn't interested in a contract/phone from T-Mo and that I just wanted to play. He was cool about, no sales pitches. Nice phone, can't wait for the Epic... COMMON SPRINT!
