Just got a third-party (non-Samsung branded)extended battery for my Fascinate.
When I turn the phone on a screen pops up saying that the battery is a non-supported battery and that I should see the owner's manual. What if any limiting effects will there be using this battery? It's a Li-ion3.7VDC 3500mAh.

When I tried a supposed replacement battery, I got that message. The phone would not charge it. Took it back.

I have a battery that I purchased from Amazon like this, it works fine actually holds a charge longer than the replacement I got from Verizon. I just have to pull it and charge it in the charger that came with it. Lately tho' I've noticed that my phone screen will not timeout for me with that battery is in the phone for some reason?

I, too got one from Amazon. It was made by RND. Would not charge in the phone. I returned it to Amazon. Then I got an email from RND asking about what was wrong and what error messages came up. They were impressed by the detail I gave them and promised to send me a free Fascinate battery when they got the problems fixed. Well, I said to myself that's the end of that. Guess what? Last week I got a package from RND. It was a new battery. I popped it into my Fascinate to see what would happen. LSS, it works perfectly! I would now recommend these batteries as they are now completely compatible and will charge in the phone just like the OEM ones. :D

I got a 1600 mah well known brand replacement battery with the same issue. The seller said it was for all Galaxy S phones, including the Fascinate. But, it wouldn't charge in the phone and said it was "unauthorized". I called the battery manufacturer, and sure enough, there are specific batteries for specific Galaxy S phones. The one the merchant sold me was only for the Sprint Epic 4G, and no other Galaxy S phone. There was a specific model # just for the Verizon Fascinate. Once I got the correct model # battery, it works great.

wtherrell - what mah is this battery?

I have a 3500mah from Amazon, but as described prior here, 1) the battery message comes up upon boot-up, 2) the battery will not charge in phone, and 3) most importantly, the screen will dim, but not automatically turn itself off. whenever a call comes in, the screen lights up and will not go off by itself, resulting in wasted battery as the phone sits in my carrier if I do not notice the call.
