Non-XL ergonomics- not great

Have already posted in the ‘buyers remorse’ thread that I am not totally delighted with my P2 (non-xl). It is a very good phone but my current view is that it just does not feel like a £729 phone and the screen is just (IMO) very very average.

What I was not expecting though is for a small phone to be so uncomfortable for one handed use. Maybe it is the sharper edges but for example I actually find the larger S8+ more comfortable to type on one handed.

Anybody else finding this or is it just me?

Can you go into more detail on why you think the pixel display is very average? resolution, colour, brightness etc...

I'm coming from the S6 and I thought the Pixel 2 would definitely be my next phone, starting to question that decision.

I find it dull, flat and just generally uninspiring to look at. Nothing wrong with it like the XL, not terrible just IMO very average.

How are the buttons, I've read and heard they are mushy?

I was seriously considering the Pixel 2 but its footprint/size compared to other devices is just silly for the size of screen you get. I'm now waiting to see what the Mate 10 Pro has to offer along with the HTC U11 Plus.

That is because you have trained yourself to like a more cartoonish color space. I have S6, Pixel and Pixel 2, and now I prefer Pixel 2 screen. Even though I was first disappointed with the "washed" out colors. Also setting other phones to sRGB and then compare to Pixel 2, you will realize Pixel 2 is actually an upgrade. If Google provides a more saturated option in future update then you will "love" it again. YMMV.

As for the ergonomics of the smaller Pixel 2, I don't know, I'm coming from the enormous 6P and I am absolutely loving having a smaller device again. Easy to hold, I love the feeling of the black version. It's no awesome-in-hand-feeling like the Nexus 5 of yesteryear, but it's nice to be back in this size again.
