Welcome to the world of Android. If you're interested in rooting check out the step by step explanations in the ThunderBolt rooting subforum. You'll also find lots of information on custom ROMs.

Rooting is not that hard. U can just Download the auto root in the fourm and follow the instructions on screen. To get the sense 3.0 lock screen u need to use the bamf roms cm7 is stock android and nothing like sense

Well what they said! I too came from the BB platform. Greatest switch i have ever made. I bought the TB on launch day with NO root or prior android experience. I had it rooted about 2 weeks later. Back then it was the long copy and past process which was very easy to me. Now with the autoroot you will do just fine.

About ROMS and such. We can all tell you what we like and what is stable. In the end you yourself will probably try just about every ROM out there. Really I spend more time flashing than i do on the actual phone itself. So when you get used to it you will have a blast and probably run the most unstable ROM just because you like it the most. XDA has a very good list of ROMS and other things.

When you are ready the link will be provided to you........OK your ready. Here you go!:
The Official Thunderbolt ROMs & Kernels Listing v2.5 (Updated 7/16 12:40 AM CST) - xda-developers

Gives you links to just about every single ROM out there for the TB with the exception of BAMF they have their own site now.

Good Luck and welcome aboard!
