nood to rooting

Ok so Im getting the s3 when it comes out and I've got an EVO 4G that I want to root. But I've got a weird question...... is there an Rom or a way that i could take the apps and other programs that make the EVO a PHONE and like turn it into a mini tablet? I plan to root my s3 when I get it so ill ne able to tether WiFi for the EVO.

Welcome to AC!

If you just disable service on the EVO then you can still use it as a tablet and surf the web/use data over Wifi. Do be careful because it will still be able to dial 911 even without service, but other than that there is nothing special you have to do to tether it to the SIII.

If you want to root the EVO - Head over to the EVO Forum ROM's and Mods sub forum and there is ton's of documentation on how to root it.

thats what i was thinking but its for my 6 year old son and when were in the car i let him play with it. and he likes to make phone calls,lol. And ive heard that with rooting you can take the crap apps that the service providers put up there. So i was wondering if i could take like the contacts log, phone dialer, voicemail, calendar, and all the other stuff that makes it a phone off?
