Usually I go from Root Explorer and use their share tab thing.

With Root Explorer yes. In fact, you may need root to explore/modify your system folder in general but I can't be positive.

I'm 70% positive you need to be as well, but that's only because I've never bothered unless I was rooted .

ES File Explorer should be able to see some stuff.

I use Astro to back up APK's. You can then upload them to Dropbox or save them on your PC.

Yes, unless you attempt to block them (I'll grab a link to a guide I made) with some light file renaming or flash a ROM that includes OTA blocks.

You will still get them you just won't be able to flash them because you won't have samsung recovery anymore. It will be a custom one

cheers man. i still wana get the OTAs though. dont really wana flash a rom as im startin to like touchwiz. i just wana root to use root apps and uninstall bloatware to save memory

Yea it would but you could always root and install a touchwiz Rom there are loads of them out there and with them you usually get the updates quicker than waiting for the ota
