I called Samsung because I was at the end of my rope with not being able to pair my fascinate with my mac. I was Shocked, when the tech told me that due to the phone's software it's not possible & that she has a mac and can't pair it herself. She says that it was kind of possible when the phone came out but the latest updates (not Froyo) made it totally impossible. They are working on a software patch to fix this, but of course couldn't tell me when. She kept telling me that it will be soon because they have been notified by development.( Heard that too many times). Of course The Froyo issue was the same crap. I have decided to actively campaign to Verizon that due to the fact I can't pair my phone, that i should be able to trade it for a different model. I am making some real headway & should be into a new phone soon. Such a shame because it's a nice phone.
I will NEVER buy another SAMSUNG. It's obvious to me that their development for these phones stinks. And they don't care!!

Read the thread

If you really read the thread. The Froyo was just an aside. The main issue is about the lack of software ablility to pair with macs

Guess you Can't read either!

The point of the thread was about Samsung development being so lame as to having software that is only PC friendly. Froyo wasn't the issue!

Yes I tried all the methods as they were posted and all I accomplished was to totally screw up my ability to connect to the internet. As I said, The Samsung Tech Supervisor admmited to having a mac & not being able to pair it

Everyone please stop flaming each other i dont want this forum to be like others, this should be a place where people feel safe to post problems and get solutions and discuss things peacefully

as for the mac issue,,,try this
remove your battery, plug your phone in and press the down button untill you see a big yellow triangle..let it sit for a couple mins then unplug pop your battery back in and try to see if the phone connecets....oh and make sure you are in debugging mode...

if that does not work try this
with the phone in debugging mode and plugged in restart the phone when it restarts unlock it give it a min or two and try to mount the sdcard again

Agreed. Due to recent events, I will not be hesitant in handing out infractions. If you can't keep what you want to say cordial, or at least polite, don't post it.

I have a Mac and have no issue connecting. My wife's connects as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way saying that because mine works yours should too. I'm simply stating that it isn't the case with every Fascinate and Mac.

And Mike, I do think you missed the point of the thread. The OP wasn't complaining about not having Froyo, so your frustration was a little misplaced. That being said, let's keep the back-and-forths out of here and focus on trying to help the OP resolve their issue and enjoy this amazing piece of hardware!

I'm syncing my Fascinate with my Mac (OS X-10.6..) by using the app.. "Missing Sync" which works just great!!! Syncs my address book, iCal, iMusic, iPhoto and so on.. without any problems... What's the big deal..??!!

That's actually awesome to know in my line of work. Thanks! I still think it's kind of silly to not be able to jump ship without aftermarket software when there are standards in place to do exactly that for consumer friendly business.

Just to throw it on the table here, Apple only cares if you can pair with an iPhone, they purposefully introvert their software so that people will buy iProducts. Try exporting iCal to google some time and you'll see what I mean. Last time I looked the best option was a custom script that reformatted it to match "industry standard". I know it's not all that helpful, but it's not necessarily all samsung's fault. Apple has a long history of making sure your options are extremely limited. Look at the chargers their products use.

All you have to do is look at my signature to know my feelings on the issue :D
