AC Question

I had the preview turned off when I used 6.1 but now i want to turn it back on. I'm talking about when you swipe down to see your notifications you will see "Messages, New message" and that's it. I remember in 4.2.2 you could see the message text in the notification window and/or the lock screen.
I swear there is something weird with my settings. It's almost as if t-mobile intentionally took some of the settings away.
on settings->lock screen and security->notifications on lock screen, i have it set to "Show content" and i have the Messages app turned on.
under settings->notifications, the Messages app is turned on.
on settings->notifications->advanced(Messages), i only see 3 options. Allow nofications(turned on), show siliently(off), and Set as priority(off). and that's it. nothing about message previews anymore.
i've been searching for days and i can't find the option anymore. it's almost as if i had the option in 6.0 and in 7.0 it was taken away but yet the selection to hide everything still persisted.
and no i will not get any third party app to handle my messages or notifications.

I can't believe i left that out. sorry. i have a samsung galaxy S7 with t-mobile. non-rooted

Reporting same issue. S7, just updated to Nougat yesterday. "On Lock Screen" set to "Show Content", but doesn't!

I'll move this to the S7 forum, for more specific traffic.

Can you see the content in other notifications like email? Is it just your SMS messages?

I don't think it's 7.0. I'm still on the Note 7 (T-Mobile) and noticed the same issue yesterday. Just looked on Play and the Messages app was updated on the 3rd...

ETA: just saw that you posted on the 2nd, so I guess that blows my theory out of the water.

I have a feeling this is a problem with the screwing around with the OS that t-mobile did when they usually add their bloatware in. This is just a guess but it seems like the problem is because i had lock screen notifications set to Hide Content when i was on 6.0 but that options stuck when i upgraded, but only for the Messages app. my gmail shows the notification just fine. I've been trying to get help from the t-mobile support forum but no luck yet

Found it!

Settings > notifications > advanced > turn on 'show on lockscreen'

I also turned on the popups option just in case...
