Not all S8`s have the new notification style

So me and a mate of mine both have S8`s, both the Plus variant in black. When he gets a text he gets a neat animation for the notification, this is also shown on the Verge video review, mine gets the standard notification like we have had for some time. I cannot find any setting, Samsung will not respond to requests, Samsung on the phone have no clue what im talking about.... It`s odd.

Anyone else having this issue? or know how to fix it?

Are you both using the default Samsung messaging app?

If yes, which version of the messaging app? You can find out by going to settings -> applications -> messages -> and it'll display the version number.

Yup, i finally figured it out

Pull down quick settings and press edge lighting, its the second page of quick settings. Then in settings go to > Display > EdgeScreen, make sure Edge Lighting is toggled on, Then click on it and press Manage Notifications and choose which apps you want this way

Yup, i finally figured it out

So i turned it on for all apps, but i don't think it's working. I would expect to see that when my phone is unlocked and on the home screen or in other apps, but i'm only seeing the notification symbol pop up in the status bar.

Seems like that new notification only pops up when my phone is locked

Just turned it on and it works for me on Whatsapp, but doesn't seem to work with Textra.

You can also just hold down the icon in the drop down to go to that icons settings.

I've noticed that it doesn't work on Samsung's stock email app for some reason. On Messages it does though. I haven't had enough time to see what else it does or doesn't work on though.

I turned it on for everything and the only app it works with is the stock messaging app.
