I bought unlocked Samsung S8 from Samsung directly. Later i realize the services are not 100% working...and when communicated with AT&T they found Samsung S8 is not certified by them yet (as of 08/15/2017) and hence I might not be able to use fully. Another issue was AT&T online profile did not recognized my phone it registered as Unknown Device. So pls check ur carrier before buy it. If the issue is been fixed or not. Its August 2017 now and S8 was released in April 2017....too bad. almost half of the yr passed.

Same issue with keyone if you want all the services buy from the carrier also warranty is faster with a carrier.

I have an unlocked S8+ on ATT as well. Agree with you, no ATT specific services are supported, but my phone works fine for me. I didn't care about HD voice or wifi calling. I'll take a phone without ATT bloatware any day. Works perfectly otherwise and they don't have to support it. The S8/S8+ bands support all the ATT bands and just download the visual voicemail app and you are set to go.

Yup. Any non-carrier device will not have AT&T support for their enhanced services. Found this out when I got a Pixel XL.

True. But I got better deal on ph for Samsung rather than carrier. Now i might have to switch better carrier.

Yeah unlocked devices may seem like a better alternative but you have to consider the service provider you'll be using it on.

Carriers are easier to deal with in the first place and who needs to be without a phone for a week or so

Yep. My GFs works just swimmingly on ATT too. Plus, you can engage and utilize the wifi hotspot without any BS from the carrier.

It was not only warranty, plus $150.00 discounted price from Samsung. And I can use this set with other carrier like T-mobile without any issue as they confirmed. So the issue is with At&t who wants more control on its users. And if they dont support cell bought independently they should be clear about it or not charge the price for full supported service. Just want to let others know of the facts.

Similar issue with an unlocked S8+ on Verizon mvno's... On Red Pocket I could not send sms and on Total Wireless couldn't activate at all. Am now on Verizon prepaid and everything appears to work ok.
