sometimes when i go to bed atnigth and plug the X into the charger i wake up to find that it has not been charging. is this s asettign somewhere? it does not happen all the time, and i charge it at work all day and its fine also. any solutions?

try a different charger at home. if that doesnt work call customer service and get a warranty replacement phone

Could be the outlet, or the charger.

Or maybe you have a rogue process on your phone chewing through the battery faster than it can charge. Check to make sure when you plug it in at home that your battery icon in the notification bar turns to a little plugged in symbol. If it just stays solid with no symbol in the middle then there's a problem.

power down your phone and then back up.
mine does this some times to.
i am in the habit of looking for the little lightning bolt on the batter, if i don't hear the sound or see the icon flashing, i know it's not charging and power fail the phone and then it works again.
not sure why it's doing that.. but mine does it off and on.

Mine also does this and a power cycle (turning the phone off then back on) always fixes it. It's a software glitch if I had to guess.

the turning on/off procedure has worked thus far. but hopefully it is something that can be adressed with a fix. now im very cautious to see the lightning bolt in the battery icon. dont want to wake up with a dead phone. and weird bc i didnt have the problem all day at work....hopefully the same goes for when i charge it at home.

I had same issue and restart always resolve, easy way to know it will charge is if you do not hear notification sound when plugged in usually mean it isn't charging.

Mine has the same problem. I have to disconnect the charger from the outlet and plug it back in. Then that gets me a full charge. By the following night, i run into the same problem. Its annoying, but i really don't feel like calling customer service or drive across town to verizon.

Same here every so often. And more often than not it isn't recognized by my computer when I plug in the usb.

I have noticed also when this happens the charging information that is usually under notification area is missing and when connecting to pc the mount option is also missing from list... Seems that what ever app that controls this feature is being closed in background.

Does this happen to all droid x or just a few. Are the ones with the problem launch day phones or later models. How do I check to see if mine has this issue. Thanks

still does it to me. only cycling it works. but i have noticed one thing....it seems to only be doing it with the charger cable that came with my ezestand. my stock motorola ons do ot seem to have this issue. this could be a coincidence and it could be a software glitch, but it could juts be the cable too. im monitoring the situation.

figured it out.
there is a usb service that runs. and when it is killed, the charger no longer works.
I looked at my running services, killed it off and then no more charging..

so now the question is, is there an app that can start services? or is a reboot the only way?

which service did you kill?

No charging happened to me for a while. Turned out the USB charger plug had been knocked loose in the outlet. Just enough juice to light the lights, but not enough to help out the battery.
