I took it out of its case when I sat down on my reclining sofa and it fell through the side crack. I opened the recliner in order to grab it and the reclining mechanism metals dug deep into the back, carving a hole and cracking. The front side is fine. I have insurance and ordered a replacement right away.

Can the backside even be fixed, specially with deep engraving like that?

Good thing you have insurance. I would like to think that insurance will cover in unless specifically mentioned.

Worst phone mishap I ever had was laying my phone down on the bumper of my Pontiac Sunbird and when I closed the trunk, I smashed the phone.

Otterbox Defender or Supcase UB Pro. I left OB for a while and then gave them a try years later with the N9. Really liked it and it was the first purchase with the N10 along with the Supcase

My first purchases were the Otterbox Defender case and the Magglass Tempered Glass screen protector. I had an OBD case on my prior Note 4 and there was not a scratch on it when I traded it in. That was after I dropped it face down twice onto the parking area at my house when getting out of my truck.

Ugh... Dropped the phone from my lawn chair onto the concrete driveway. Not even 12inches... Had a Spigen thin fit case on it and it hit at the right spot.

To confirm, after said drop, did the device work (i.e. did the screen come on)?
Merely curious now...

It did. Had issues charging though. Would keep saying I had a weak charger even though I was using the one it came with.

Totally! And some have some heft to them as well as height! And the glass, aluminum... That'd hurt too!
