I have noticed since having my S20 Ultra that I was getting Gmail notifications for a few days but now they have just stopped since yesterday. Has anyone else noticed this and/or have a solution?

First things first -- what are the Gmail app's notification settings set to? Go to Settings>Apps, select Gmail, then Notifications, then show us a screenshot.

Couple things to look out for :
Is gmail put to sleep in device care app list*
Is the phone set in power saving mode , or medium and even adaptive* recommend high performance mode , also make sure gmail is not battery optimization also .

It does seem like a settings issue. I remember some people having issues with their Note 10+ at release with the same thing. Just couldn't remember the fix b/c I disable gmail app as soon as I get my phone.

I had the same issue and this fixed it.
Go to settings, then apps, then press the 3 dots on the top right. Select special access, then optimise battery usage. Scroll down through optimised apps and select Gmail for non optimised. Also go to adaptive notification on the same list showing optimise battery usage. And turn off adaptive notifications.
See if that works

Thanks guys!!

I had the same issue, but thanks to this thread, mine is now fixed. Kudos to all those above me!!!

I'm still having problems getting notifications from eBay, PayPal ETC and have gone through and checked everything.

Must be something I've missed. Maybe that adaptive notifications deal?

Yea, I'm on optimized power mode. Would high performance make a difference with notifications?

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know what worked for me. I did all the suggestions I could find online (tweaking the power settings, etc), but finally what worked, was going to Gmail-settings on the desktop.

On the gmail website, go to settings (click the cog-icon in the top right) --> All settings --> Forwarding and POP/IMAP --> POP settings (set to off) --> IMAP use (remove from use) --> Save

And with that it has been working now.

Hope this helps.

The Gmail app settings, tap on your account. Under Notifications make sure it's set to "All," and under Inbox notifications make sure "Notify for every message" is checked Tap on each of your Google accounts and make sure that the toggle for Gmail is turned on.
