not really fast charging

I'm on the Android P beta and noticed recently even though it says fast charging but really isn't like my bosses v20 is charging 2 times faster then my pixel XL 2 and he is using an old iPhone charging brick

I wreck my battery daily from LTE streaming (15-20 GB daily on LTE). I can charge during lunch for an hour or so and get a damn good % back... and that is with my Pixel 1 brick.

So you're saying that it's charging slower than a slow charger?

And actually i put both phone side by side and v20 was charging faster both and they both started at 10 percent going to see if it's any of my apps

The Pixel 2 has a conservative charging profile to reduce charging stress, which should help extend the life of the battery. It's not slow, but it won't be as fast as some of the faster charging phones on the market.

If you only plan to keep the phone for a year max, that won't matter, but if you want to keep it for longer, the battery shouldn't degrade as quickly.

He's stating that someone with a V20 using old iPhone brick is charging faster. That would imply the Pixel is charging slower than conventional charging.

He's comparing LG with HTC - that's like comparing apples and ducks. The LG is full QC 3.0 (18 Watts, normally), the Pixel 2 is capped at 10.5 Watts. That could be the difference.

I think you misunderstood or I didn't make my point. If you try charge a V20 with an iPhone brick it does not quick charge and would take a very long time to charge. Ive been there and done that. The OP is saying that his Pixel was slower than that scenario. That should not be happening.

If it was a stock USB charger, 5 Volts, yes, there's probably a problem with the Pixel. But it depends on how old "old" is - Apple has 5 Watt, 12 Watt, 29 Watt and 61 Watt chargers, and a V20 might be able to negotiate a pretty fast charge with a 29 Watt charger. (I don't think it would get any benefit from a 61 Watt charger.) And Apple has had fast charging for over 2 years, so that could be "old" to some.

Without actual numbers, all we're doing is guessing. If I had both phones and both chargers on my bench, I could figure out who's doing what.

Checking to see if any apps can be causing any issues is a good start. See what happens when you boot the phone into Safe Mode.

Yeah I'm oing to try tonight after work. On Wednesday i work a double so wasn't able to try it yet. Plus side once battery is charged it's last almost all day. But when i was driving home i had music playing while charging and i was also you a PD car charger it still died. So yeah definitely something is going on.

Yeah i thinking one of the apps i have is not playing nice with Android P beta. Yeah it take about 6 hours to fully charge my phone right now. No bueno wasn't like before the beta and actually when i first got the beta it wasn't like hmmm. Yup definitely try safe mode when i get home.

So booted in safe mode and phone is rapid charging properly again so it's safe to safe it's probably an app so this should be fun to find out which app ??????

welp i have way to many apps and i couldn't take it anymore so i just reset my phone to factory and its charging fine, and i am slowly adding apps to figure it out

Could be something got corrupted and you might not be able to duplicate it.
