Not Receiving Voicemail Push Notifications (P30 Pro)

Hi all,

I can receive voicemails, but I do not receive any voicemail push notifications. So every time I have a missed call notification I have to check my voicemail "just in case"! Which is annoying! I have tried my sim card in another phone and the push notification work on that phone, so I'm guessing it's the phone (Huawei P30 Pro) rather than the provider (Public Mobile).

I have already spoken to Public Mobile who have checked all things on their end and they seem to think all is OK. On my phone, I have checked Settings > Apps > Phone Services > More > Voicemail and everything is on there. I have also tried Settings > Apps > App Launch > and made everything "Manage manually" so that nothing will be turned off from running in the background. But I still can't get the Voicemail Push Notification to work!

Any ideas?

Cheers
Glenn

Thank you...I've been here a while, but I had an issue with my login/email so I had to start again!!

Thanks for the response. I've just tried that and it's still the same. I get a missed call notification, but no voicemail notification.

In your Phone app, go to Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail and make sure the Voicemail Number is set up correctly for your carrier.

I went through a whole bunch of checks with my carrier, with the final check being me swapping my sim card into another phone. When I did this (into an iPhone XR) the voicemail notification appeared, but still didn't work when I put it back into P30 Pro.

I don't think it has to do with the SIM card -- it sounds more like an issue with the phone software. When you went through all of those checks with the carrier, did that include making sure the Voicemail Number is set up correctly in the Phone app? If it isn't, that might impact the Phone app's ability to give you a notification for a new voicemail.

Here's a list of what the carrier got me to do:

1. As the first troubleshooting step, I have an update in my end, for this to be recognized by your phone, please go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings (for iPhones, this will delete Wi-Fi passwords) or Settings > Device Management > Reset > Reset network settings (for most of the Android devices ).

2. Let's go to the phone app on your phone.
Tap on the 3 dots located on the right-hand side
Tap settings
Tap More
Tap Voicemail
Make sure that Notifications are on.

3. I've done another step in my end.
Please power off your phone, remove the SIM put it back in.

4. I've checked your account and all features for the voicemail service are properly set up.
Can you test your SIM card in another device?

Cheers

No, that's not my cell number, that's Public Mobiles number, but that's OK!

So I found it! Looking at the link you posted got me there in a round about way! This is the downside to Androids, there is no one way to get deep into the settings!! So what I needed to do was go to:
Settings > Apps > Phone Services > App Info > Notifications >
In there the "Allow Notifications" was turned off! So I turned it on, and then set it so that everything in there was also on...voila!

Thanks so much for sticking with this.

That's great! It's baffling to me how that toggle could've been off, especially since it looks like it's greyed out (i.e., not modifiable by the user). Glad it's working now!
