Not understanding why HTC can't seem to get it 100% right.

Sure maybe they fixed the camera (about time) but not the black bar. where is the max2 ?? dolby digital sounds good, but why not update the design ??

they always seem to be about 95% perfect-. which still might be better then any other phone.!!!

So they created a hybrid or baby of the One M7/M8? Is this the movie Underworld or something? They need to get serious.

HTC spent a year in their virtual world. Here is my virtual money HTC...(rolling my eyes in sarcasm). In a virtual world you couldn't come up with anything better than a hybrid phone...you have problems HTC. They spent a year not focusing on their phone. Remember 3D? Virtual reality isn't the future.

Sense 7 is coming to my M8 and probably my M7 too. Why upgrade?

I wouldn't mind the minimal design approach if the design they were using didn't have such obvious flaws. It just blows my mind how they could show what they did for their flagship device and expect it to be popular and help them continue from the momentum built by the M8, especially when everyone is anticipating big things from Samsung.

to the masses 90% of the general public the phone will do well. the dissapointment will be the 10% of online geeks. lol the reason my wife got an s5 was 100% the better camera.(and trust me it is one laggy phone) so in that aspect if the camera IS an upgrade that would be great.

where do you people come up with these 10% BS statistics? or only a 1% of people root. give me a break.

Please...the phone was a poor seller compared to the other flagships...the trend will continue now

Its not. However its not that good to drop 650 on either.

Since I've never had an M-series device, I could be persuaded to drop $650 on a GPE variant, if only for the 1080P battery savings as opposed to QHD, the speakers, and SD card storage.

Oh I am with you. QHD isnt worth it; I too would rather have the battery. I just got sucked into the hype and the hype fell very flat upon delivery. I think the S6 looks stinky too. Just companies continuing to play it way to safe.

I have the DNA and it trucking along with it warning rattles here and there. Ill see what people say in a couple months.

I agree. As I said in a different post, the S6 just seems to me a shined up turd. People are complaining that HTC went with an iterative design, well, theoretically, so did Samsung. It's the same basic design with the same button placement, just wrapped in glass. It's been done before (*cough iPhone *) (*cough Xperia*). Between the two, I'd be more excited about the M9, with the possibility of the improved camera, FHD screen which will be easier on the battery, a larger battery that could potentially go over a day in use, and expandable storage, with even better sounding speakers? Come on HTC folks, buck up, you still have the best designed Android phone. The M9 is the iPhone of Android.

The S6 is aluminum and glass from what I saw during their speech. And from the reviews I've seen the S6 camera is better than the M9. Hello, the M8's camera is better than the M9. I was looking forward to the M9 but I am not going to bash Samsung. If you actually watched them talk about the S6 during the conference you would have been in awe. They put hard work into their product, opposed to HTC showing up and barley talking about the M9. Heck, just look at the CEO's and how they handled the phones. Huge difference....

There's nothing wrong with the design of the HTC One M9. HTC wants you to see a phone and immediately think it's an HTC. Of course the follow up is going to look a bit like the phone that came before.

I did watch it, and again, I wasn't impressed. But that's their job, to basically go gaga over their product, so as to inspire consumers to buy it, whether or not they actually believe their own pitch. I also agree that HTC did a terrible job, because they didn't do what Samsung did. Which looks to me like they're resting on their laurels and getting comfortable. It's good to know that you have the best designed and implemented skinned phone, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't think forward. That's what their mistake is.

I was watching Android police and they summed things up pretty nicely. HTC is a development cycle behind where they should be as a company. Hence the HTC One M8S (M9).

Another thing I noticed. Call me picky. The HTC CEO came out in a Steve Jobs black shirt and pants (LAME). The CEO from Samsung had a really nice suit on. I love how he slid the S6 into his inside pocket. I felt like he would actually use that phone as his daily device. Samsung seemed very knowledgeable about their new flagships and pointed out some things people cared about. I don't care about wireless charging but I got a lesson on the two different types of wireless charging. The S6 won't bend...lol. Very funny. But I love how they broke down the efficiency of the battery. They made very good points as to why you should buy a Samsung phone. I'm still on the fence but I was impressed. HTC really upset me for some odd reason.
