Ok so I'm not completely unfamiliar with rooting. I run Fedora at home and my last phone was a Palm Pre which I successfully rooted multiple times. The thing I'm not seeing while reading over the different documentation is recovery/backup options.
On any OS (Win, Linux, Mac) regardless of what you do to your machine you can reinstall with the OS software. On my Pre, regardless of what I did to my phone software I could usually reinstall a fresh factory OS with WebOS Dr. Is there an option like this for the Evo Shift? I keep seeing rooting/unrooting apps, but they require the phone be rooted first.
I presume that this cannot be done, but I've only had the phone for 6 days so might not have found what I'm looking for. If there is software for this could someone please post the links I'll read the rest.
