Not wanting to update

I just picked up a Z Play from the BB promo and it did an update as soon as I got it. I am now on 6.0.1 and I am getting a pop-up for another update. How can I make it stop? I have the legacy unlimited data and can use the network signal refresh trick to enable tethering and would rather have that than update and lose that.
