note 10 plus AKG headphones vs s10+ 3.5mm headphones

So I broke out my AKG headphones that came with my note 10+ and noticed they sounded like complete crap. I got my wifes s10+ and her AKG headphones that came with her phone and are 3.5mm and sound WAY better. Much louder and way more bass! Now my question.

Is this normal or is something wrong with my phone or headphones?

I got out my USBC to 3.5mm Jack dongle and got out a different pair of headphones and sound quality is still bad!
the sound coming out of the USBC port sucks! almost worth ditching note 10+ completely.

To be fair to the phone I must add that my Bose bluetooth headphones sound FANTASTIC through my note 10 plus.

Using a pixel and one plus dongle and no issue with headphones on my Note 10+

That's not always true. Many of the dongle adapters have a better DAC than the onboard one.

Check your sound settings. Do you have Dolby Atmos on?

I did a factory reset and that fixed the issue. AT&T still wants to replace the phone tho.

That happened to me once with an LG device. One channel was bad....I was about to send it in so had to reset it anyway and it fixed the problem.

I got a replacement note 10 plus from AT&T and I flashed April security patch and I'm having those same headphone issues again. not sure if its the phone or headphones at this point.

Try clear cache in recovery?

just tried didn't work. I bet a factory reset fixes it but don't feel like doing that again. I shouldn't have to do that every time.

I don't really know what the hell i did but its randomly sounding better again.

I had my wife listen to it when it was bad to make sure I wasn't going crazy and she said the same thing.
