That's a very good price for the Note 20U. I would take that deal if I were you. Plus you will a trading value higher than your purchase price when the new Note drops in 2022.

I am quite jealous. The best price I can get currently with all trade in's for the Note 20 Ultra is 770 dollars. Still not bad compared to it's original price which is ridiculous, but 400 is a steal. I would jump on that, especially if it's new.

it's from Samsung they gave me $550.00 for my iPhone 11 pro max and a $250 promotional discount

If you have the 11 Pro Max why are you trading it in for the Note 20 Ultra? I have both phones. They are both great phones.

If you are looking for updates, stick with the iPhone- they will update that thing forever! I don’t think it’s controversial to say Apple does an amazing job updating. Sometimes they do fudge things and need an update or two to fix.

I do tend to think Samsung does a better job with hardware. I love how light the Note is compared to the iPhone. But I have both in cases, so there is that.

If I had to pick one, I would be forced to go with the iPhone because I just find the Apple Watch to be a really super handy device, and while I tried to use the Galaxy Watch 3- and it was more beautiful from a hardware perspective, just no contest on getting notifications, using the watch for calls, messages, reading emails, syncing my calendar.
