So I'll be getting the Note 3 as a gift for my mother whom just turned 40. I thought it would be a nice present for her since she still owns and loves the original Galaxy Note. I have an HTC One so I'm not really familiar with Samsung products. I'd like to know if there's an easy way to transfer everything that's on her Note 1 to the Note 3, and I mean everything, like media, notes, apps, messages, mails, phone contacts, WhatsApp chats (if possible), etc. Also, the Note 3 uses a Micro SIM card like the original Note, is that correct? She's been complaining about the battery on her Note, says it drains quickly, for those who already got it, how's the battery life on the Note 3 performing? I think that's all I need to know for now.

She's not aware that I'll gift her a Note 3, she doesn't like change, so I'm crossing my fingers that she likes it, which I seriously can't see why she wouldn't, it seems like a fantastic phone and a major upgrade from the Note 2, let alone the original. However, I'm hoping it wouldn't be a huge difference it terms of the UI and where everything is, because then it'd take time for her to get used to it.

Any information provided is greatly appreciated!

Try the Play store, look for MyBackupPro. That should do the trick.

From what I read the Note 3 is not a huge upgrade from the 2. I have the Note 2 and do not plan to move to the Note 3. It may be from the original Note, but I never had that one so can't say. I cannot complain about my battery life on my Note 2.

Before you buy, you might wanna check the threads you can find on the Note 3, upgrade comments and also the comments on the outer casing. If she's had her Note a long time, sounds like a new battery may be in order which should solve her battery complaints.

I'll check out MyBackup Pro, but is there a reason you suggested it over Samsung's Smart Switch?

Thanks for the advice. Will check out some of the threads on here.

Wow, you are the best child ever.....if she has gmail her email, contacts, calendar will sync up after you log on with her gmail account. i usually set my mom's new phones up for her and its been a good time to clean some stuff out and start with a clean slate. i make sure that her pics, files, notes, etc are saved to the sdcard. seems like i've read that the backup apps will restore some stuff like apps but not such things as game progress. anyway, i redownload all of her apps minus any she's decided she doesn't really use anymore, theres always a few she decides she doesn't really need. i think the note 3 will be a big jump for her, ie: the spen does a ton more than the note 2 so i would think it will be a huge jump. given the big change in functionality she may be better off with a fresh start then trying to absolutely try to replicate the old experience. good luck. my mom is 77 and rocking the note 2 so i'm sure your mom will love the note 3!

Thank you, karsdroid! So you think the best way is to move everything to the SD card? Because she only uses the SD card for pictures and videos but everything else are on the device's memory. And I won't worry about game progress as she doesn't really play games on her phone. I bet she'll love the S Pen as well since she uses the stylus that came with the Note 1 and I'm sure it's a huge improvement compared to it :D
