I have got a brand new Note 3 a few weeks back. But sometimes when I try making a call the call log just hangs for few seconds and then the call is made. Can anyone explain why?

Welcome to AC :D
Do you mean that the time from you hit the call button and the time when it starts to ring is a few seconds?
That's normal. Usually it will take 2-3 seconds if you were on LTE and it has to drop down to HSPA+. Is it happening all the time or only occasionally?

It was explained to me that the phone is connecting to the cell towers. That is what causes the delay in ringing. Doesn't happen all the time mostly when I have two bars or less

No no. Its not the network delay. When I swipe right on the call log or contact name the screen freezes and it takes 10-30 seconds to start dialling. The ringing comes after that which takes normal time. I'm attaching a screenshot of the part where the screen freezes

Oh, OK. And this has happened the whole time you've owned the Note 3?

I think around 10 days after buying. I have uninstalled most of the apps that I had downloaded. But the problem is still persisting.

I just tried it on my note 3, it worked fine. I'm with Verizon running 4.4.2

No it happens even when I touch to call...

Sorry for the late reply. Have you tried clearing cache for the dialer and contacts apps? Go to settings > apps > all and find the apps, then tap on them and select the "clear cache" option

Hmm. You can also try wiping the cache partition on your phone. To do this you will need to boot into recovery. With the phone off, hold power + volume up + home for a few seconds. Then use the volume buttons to navigate the screen and use the power button to select the options.
