Note 4 Hangouts gifs

Hello all, so I've been playing around with gifs and my buddies. We think it hilarious. However, all the third party apps I find run pretty bad on the Note 4. These apps, like Textra, have the did support but aren't as reliable I find, the app takes forever to notify me on my Moto 360 and I can't be having that since I spent the money on the watch. Hangouts is awesome, SMS MMS and hangouts itself works great within the app. The issue here is that the app doesn't support gifs as much, especially when sending to an iPhone. Keep in mind this is via SMS MMS. If I go to chrome and save a gif to gallery folder then attach it using hangouts it seems to work fine on my end. Once the receiving end gets the gif then it merely looks like a picture and doesn't have a graphic quality to it.

Is there something I'm missing in hangouts since Google states it has gif supoort? Is there an add on in google play that has gifs and plays well with hangouts?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, Android just yet doesn't have the GIFs of ios 8
