How many of you are having overheating problems with your Note 5 and the Gear VR?

Well I got mine on Monday and haven't had problems with it ever overheating but I haven't ever tried to use it for longer than 30 minutes at the most. For me it just gets uncomfortable keeping a headset on longer than that but maybe I'll try it longer this weekend just to see if it can take it.

Hi John. I mentioned to my son about what you were saying about overheating. He just got his in last Sat. and we've played on it some. It does get warm but so far hasn't done like yours did. I don't think he's pushed it as hard as you did yet. Like me23 said, it's hard for me to keep it on longer than 30 mins!

Mine does get very warm to hot but did not shut down. I played with for a while and then watched a 136 minute movie. When I took it out the battery had gone from 100% to 46% and the back of the unit was very warm.

Mine didn't "overheat", however it did get super hot... Hotter than the exynos 7420 should ever get, therfore I ended up returning mine after a week because the problem kept reoccurring. I've never had my phone get hot like that before. Something didn't seem right...

Make sure that you close out of all of your apps and maybe even pause notifications while using for long periods of time.

Hello,I was looking where to ask this...My husband doesn't have Gear VR but the program automatically installed itself on his cellphone and it makes the cellphone malfunction,it just starts making sounds as it's being connected and disconnected from the charger and the screen keepa turning on and off...has anyone experience this?
He cannot use the phone at all right now,it just keeps blinking

Mine overheated

I heard that if you put it in airplane mode then it wont but never tried it myself. I returned GearVR tho not bc of this problem but it's not very good and quite gimmicky.

anairam...mine did this too it's due to a faulty usb port...i had to take it in and get it replaced...theres a thread on here about it but it's pretty deep into the site and is hard to find

GEAR VR,he fixed it with a package uninstaller app ..but thanks anyway

I watched 3 straight hours of netflix without issue on mine. I happen to love the gear. It works well and is different. For 100 is works very well.
