Note 5 Apps were stuck in landscape mode..........

Yesterday my 2 week old Note 5 was stuck in landscape mode and I could not get it out. :'(
After a restart everything is back to working just fine (except Gmail notifications). Does this sound like a serious problem?
I'm only a couple day away from my 14 day return period and this had me scared.

Could you accidentally have turned off rotation in quick settings?

There are a few threads about GMail notifications. Curious are the notifications mainly lacking when the device is in 'sleep' mode? That's when it used to happen for me; I've since move from GMail.

Some other threads say, an APN setting needs to be changed...
