Note 8.0 or Galaxy Tab 2 10.1?

Chances are I'm going to be upgrading from my Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Tablet to an actual Android Tablet. My choices are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" or the Samsung Galaxy Note 8". Right now I'm kinda leaning towards the Tab 2, due to it's larger screen size, but something about the Note is just appealing. I already have a "Phablet", an LG Optimus G Pro that has a 5.5" 1080p display. So I'm not sure if I should just go for the Tablet with the bigger screen or get the one that's more portable and has more processing power. Anyone have any thoughts?

Can anyone tell me anything that really sets them apart, other than screen size? One of the main reasons I'm wanting an actual tablet instead of a Kindle, is because several games coming out this year allow players to use Tablets, such as Battlefield 4 and Tom Clancy's: The Division. I'd also like to have it to just take around to places and stream movies and check my email when on the go and possibly read books on, when I want something larger than my phone or its battery is almost dead. I also want something that can hand

Thanks in advance for the help.

In my mind there was no choice but to go with the Note 8. Not only did I prefer it's appearance and physical build but to me it is the perfect size for home use and while out on the go.

Great for drawing, taking notes, watching video's and browsing the internet.

Love the Note 8 and am so glad I decided to get it over the 10.1.

I'd also go with the Note 8 it's way more proable size for all things and the pen is a big plus. The only thing the 10.1 would be better is watching movies.

Which would be better for games like Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs and The Division?

Battlefield 4: Battlefield 4: Official Commander Mode Trailer - YouTube
The Division: Tom Clancy's The Division - 'Supporting Companion Character' - Tablet Play Explained - YouTube
Watch Dogs: CNET News - Watch Dogs gameplay premiere on the Sony PS4 - YouTube

I'm basically wanting something that can handle Xbox Smart Glass and other resource intensive programs, have a good screen that's comfortable to look at. Moving from the Kindle Fire HD, I lose only .9 inches going to the Note, I guess I'm fine with that, but the Tab 2 at 10.1 inches adds over an inch to what the Kindle has, but lords 2.1 inches over the Note. Hence why I'm having such a hard time deciding.

Edit: Sorry, didn't know it'd imbed the players in the post instead of simply providing a link to it.

Hmmmm. After watching some youtube reviews, I think I'll most likely go with the Note. I saw that the Tab 2 runs pretty sluggishly due to its underwhelming memory. The Note may be smaller by 2.1 inches, but it's got double the processing power and double the memory. It'll be a little over a week before I go in to choose a tablet, so they might have another Tablet to choose from, but if it's the same 2 choices I'm definitely going with the Galaxy Note 8.0.

Another question: What colors does the Note 8.0 come in? Is it Whit only? I read somewhere it is also available in Charcoal Black, but I am getting it from AT&T, does that limit my color options?

Don't know about at&t, but wifi note 8 is avail in white and in brown with black trim.

White was the only available color when I got mine from AT&T, but I ended up putting it in a black & red Gumdrop Drop Tech case anyway.

Yeah, I'm going to be getting a case for it anyways, too expensive a device not to protect. I really it wish it could use wireless charging, I had thought it could what with all the previews and announcements stating it could, was sad to find out it couldn't. Oh well, I'll be happy when, and if, I'm able to get it.

wow. i need sleep very wrong boards, thought I was over at MobileRead answering someone else...sorry.

BTW - Why are you looking at the Tab 2 10.1 instead of the Tab 3 10.1 or even the Tab 3 8.0?

Because this is all AT&T offers. Besides, the Tab 3 doesn't seem to be any faster than the Tab 2, still has a dual core processor and 1GB of ram. I'd rather go with the faster, albeit smaller, Note 8.0.

Got it. However, if you can tether from you phone, you might want to consider a wifi tab since you won't be restricted to AT&T's offerings.

Isn't the Tab slower than the Note? From what I see it's Dual Core with 1GB ram vs a Quad Core with 2GB ram. Besides, we are getting a really good deal on this, otherwise we wouldn't even bother.

For simplicity, Tab 3 8 vs. Note 8 - Yes, the tab 3 is slightly slower than the Note 8 (not sure it would be THAT noticeable) but it is also $80 to $100 less than the Note 8. Unless you were either planning to take advantage of the S pen functionality or the AT&T bundle price makes the Note 8 comparable to the Tab 3 8, I would take the tab 3 8 if my focus was just on gaming alone because the $80 to $100 premium is not worth it. Note 8 is worth it to me because I rely on the S pen. If the at&t deal significantly reduces the price point of the Note 8, then that would be worth it.

We're getting a good deal on the Tablets from AT&T, either one we choose it'll be about the same price according to the rep. I really just can't wait to get the Note 8.

You'll really enjoy it once you get it. Have fun!

When I purchased my AT&T Note 8 on the first day it was only available in Marble White with a titanium white back.

Oops, already answered. Never mind.
