Note 8 charging

Is there a way to stop my note 8 from sucking power from my DJI Mavic controller when connected via USB?

Use a USB cable with only data wires, no power wires. Otherwise, not until it's fully charged.

When USB charging I can change the USB options in the notification panel from "Charge connected device" to "Charge this phone"... not sure if that option comes up in all circumstances.

It should come up in the op's case since I get that option and several others when even connecting a thumb drive to my N8.

on the note 8 there is not a USB only option that I can click. it's either charge phone or charge external device.
