Note 8 keyboard does not have secondary functions like the Note 2

Just got the Note 8, been using then Note 2. The Note 2 keyboard has secondary functions (accessed by a long press) on the qwerty keyboard. This is very handy in not having to go to the SYM keyboard. The Note 8 doesn't seem to have this same functionality .. am I missing something?

I have both the note 2 and the 8. no the note 8's keyboard is not the same as the 2's. I had to turn off swiftkey to check that though. swiftkey on both for me...so much faster that even handwriting.
