Note 8 Recent Calls had a date from the future

This is so bizarre... And I did some searching and haven't been able to find anything...

My dad's Note 8 (AT&T) stopped showing any new recent calls in the call log... Finally I realized that at the top was the date June 26th, 2018. So I scrolled down down down until the next separator and it was "Today" and all of today's calls were there.

I fixed it by deleting all of the calls from "June 26th, 2018" but I wonder how that happened and if it could happen again? So weird...

Did your dad at any point change the date/time on the phone? Is the date/time set to automatically adjust to Network time?

Yes at some point he accidentally changed the time earlier this week (I wasn't there so I didn't see what exactly he did, but somehow or other he changed it and I worked him through over the phone figuring out how to set it back to automatic). So you think maybe he accidentally changed the date to June 26th 2018, all those calls were from that day, and then since its in the future, it was at the top of the list?

Yup, pretty much. Time stamp on calls come from the device's clock, while timestamps in texts come from the network's clock. Same thing for most e-mail accounts (time stamp comes from server settings, not device).

To verify what @SpookDroid said, he (or you) can log into his AT&T account and see the date/time stamp AT&T has. It should show the actual time the calls were received or made.

I was texting with my daughter and that happened to me. Text message from her said June 26, 2018. Went into settings, sure enough my phone somehow changed date on me.

If you're both on ATT and maybe even in the same area, it might have been a network glitch that synced to that erroneous date.

This happen to me today. The date showed Oct 03, 2018. I am with ATT. Three days ago the screen went out but came back on yesterday. I took a picture cause it was weird but it showed someone called me on that day
