NOTE 8 Text Message Counter-UGH!

I'm not sure at this point if I like this NOTE 8-glad I kept my NOTE 4 JIC. It's bad enough you can't put a notication TUNE(ones you downloaded from ZEDGE and love) but NO you have to have some stupid bells or chimes. In the old days(last week) on every Samsung I've ever owned-the Message icon would tell you "you have 1 or 10 messages. Now on top of not being able to hear a nice loud tone, I have no way of knowing I have a text BECAUSE it has NO counter. I made a HUGE mistake buying this phone.

Been like that since they released oreo. Sure its other phone too that support oreo. Not just note8. Sorry you don't like it but if you read thru some of the topics you might find some help

I never use the message counter, I don't find it useful or necessary. I prefer the LED.
You can set any tone you want.

You can put a ringtone on your messages. It's just per conversation now. I think you have to turn on the message counter. That's what I had to do on my s8.

You need to put the downloaded tone in your internal storage/notifications folder to be able to choose it, also you can have a notification counter set, I have both these setup with no issues.

I think I must be confused. Are you referring to setting your notification tone to what you want? I have mine set to a tone from Zedge.

For the message counter, are you referring to app icon badges that tell you how many you have unread? Or are you talking about something else. I've included my settings screenshots.

Sorry if I misunderstood you, I'd like to try and help if I can. Loved my Note 4, but the Note 8 has been better in every way.
