note 8t bootloader unlock ? help

after watching many videos and forum threads about bootloader unlocking, i have a question that has not been answered..
i have to have my sim in the phone and data turned on, fill in mi password number etc, fastboot the phone, coonect to pc
use the log in again etc, yes to unlock, then i have to wait a week, my question is can i still use the phone in the meantime
or does it have to stay in fastboot mode connected to the pc, while i wait...

Hi Welcome to AC Forums!
Most phones I unlocked bootloader you can't use the phone and remain in fast boot , make sure phone is back up it will wipe Data

i know you cannot stay in flashmode, what i need to know, as xiaomi make you wait a week, before they will unlock the bootloader, that means im assuming
you have to stay in flashmode for a week, and not be able to use your phone, and with its sim in it, meaning i will not be able to use my phone at all.
i dont have a spare sim to use in one of my older phones, while i wait for xiaomi to unlock, not simple like htc or samsungs.

No you don't have to stay in fast boot/flash mode , when they unlock your bootloader follow their instructions then go into fast boot to finish .

so just literally follow all instructions, then fastboot and finish, then just wait a week and it done ? nothiong else, i just dont want to make a mistake

Yeah ..
In developer settings it has a toggle for own unlock ? Toggle that on go to fast boot and connect to your computer run the commands for fast boot unlock bootloader ? I'm not familiar on
xiaomi phones why it would be different
