Note 9 Camera won't go into landscape when attached to an external field monitor

I use my Note 9 for vlogging. when I attach an external field monitor using a usb-c hub the video goes to the monitor but only in portrait mode...I receive a message on the phone saying "landscape disabled while using smartview or hdmi." is there a solution for this? I really need the use of the field monitor in landscape for monitoring my vlog.
